Thai rockers Slot Machine staged their second headlining concert - Chang Music Connection presents Slot Machine The Mothership Live at Impact Arena, on 26 August. The arena was crowded with fans eagerly anticipating the ‘out-of-this-world’ show from the band: ‘Foet’ Karinyawat Durongjirakan, ‘Gak’ Atirath Pintong, ‘Auto’ Settharat Phangchunan and ‘Vit’ Janevit Chanpanyawong.

The concert kicked off a performance from opening act, Kiha & the Faces. Earlier this year, the Korean band toured with Slot Machine across North American in the “Asia on Tour” trek. As well as performing their own tracks, the six-member band surprised fans with a special cover of Slot Machine’s song “Kham Sutthai”.

After Kiha & the Faces, it was time for the headliners. The show opened with a video portraying the return of a mothership to earth. A hard-hitting drum beat marked the grand appearance of the four band members on stage and they kicked off with the one-two punch “Chan Chao” and “Fan”, immediately encouraging fans to sing and jump along. The mood toned down with “Hak Chan Tai”, a ballad that showcased Foet Karinyawat’s superb vocals. The band performed a number of tracks from their international album including “Sky Burning Star”, “THE LAND OF HIMMAPAN”, “MRT” and the title track, “Spin The World”. Hit songs from their Thai albums such as “Sing Nueng Nai Chai”, “Ni Ran”, “Ratri Rai Nam”, “Luem Lok”, “Kham Sutthai” “Nuea Kanwela” and “Ruedu” were also enthusiastically greeted through the show. The concert was also the band’s world’s premiere for their latest music video, “Lapta”. The video is based on a true story of a family who have been through tough times. It was directed by Yong Songyot, director of the talk-of-a-town teen drama series “Hormones”.

The encore began with an appearance by special guest guitarist Kerb Nattapong Thongmueng, who worked with Slot Machine for seven years, covering “Rak Thoe Thangmot Khong Huachai”, the hit track by Pause. Slot Machine then returned to the stage with an acoustic version of their songs “Kham Khuen Thi Diaodai”, “Phluto Thirak”, and “Ro” on which bassist Gak showed off his impressive piano skills. The atmosphere heated up again with uptempo favourites “Khon”, “Dai Wela”, “Yang Mueandoem”, “Khloem”, “Yon”, “Rung”, “Phan” and the original version of “Ro”. The two-and –half hour concert was filled with emotional and powerful performances accompanied by truly spectacular visuals and moving lighting grid that enveloped the audience in Slot Machine’s unforgettable, other-worldly mothership experience. Slot Machine proved once again that they are the top Thai rock band when it comes to delivering the ultimate live performance.
